The Festival
An international theater festival. A cultural festival where various languages and artistic disciplines come together around the figure of William Shakespeare. With the collaboration of La Perla 29 and the European Shakespeare Festivals Network, we aim to export Catalan theater abroad and foster international exchange here at home. Shakespeare's works have become a common language between cultures; and we speak to the world through them.
Prelude Edition 2025
From March 16th-18th at Teatre La Biblioteca. Barcelona.
While we plan the Shakespeare Festival Barcelona with the intention of launching it in 2027, on this March we celebrate the Prelude Edition to start gathering, building connections, testing formats, and bringing together artists and audiences. Three days of programming to collectively imagine the festival we are creating.
European Shakespeare Festival Network
Spread across more than 12 European countries, the ESFN facilitates the exchange between festivals held across the continent and promotes the work of William Shakespeare. The Network has applauded the launch of the Shakespeare Festival Barcelona, which once became a reference point for southern Europe, and has unanimously approved its inclusion as a member.
