Shakesphere

Shakesphere is a program for theatre creators from around the world to propose a small-scale production based on any of William Shakespeare's works. Selected productions will have the opportunity to be performed at festivals that are members of the European Shakespeare Festivals Network.

The production can be a reinterpretation of a Shakespeare text or a piece derived from his works. It should have a duration of between 60 and 80 minutes. The maximum number of company members on tour should be 5, of which at least 2 must be actors (this is not a call for a solo performance). The production should not require extensive touring scenery; basic elements such as chairs or platforms can be provided by the festivals, and all props and costumes should be able to travel with the actors as standard luggage in no more than two suitcases.

The Prelude Edition of the Shakespeare Festival in Barcelona has programmed the Shakesphere 2024 selected show, Hamlet Double Bill.
